Vagrant Magazine is a lifestyle magazine for the homeless to help the homeless. I collaborated with two other designers on the concept and we like to describe it as the South Park theory. We want the viewer to get a laugh but in the end we want them to reflect and realize that homelessness is very serious and people do need help. We also worked with an illustrator whose work really went well with this project. I photographed most of the photos which appear in the magazine and we became good friends with a homeless man, G, who took a disposable camera and photographed his life, surroundings, friends, and then gave it back to us. Unfortunately we couldn't put them in the magazine, but they really were great. I wanted this to have an even balance of funk and clean design. The cover was printed on a paper bag and the pages were printed on newsprint.
